Want to know more about DSE Assessments?

Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessments: wherever your place of work may be, whether you work in a general office building owned by your employer, a home workstation, a remote location, co-working space, or a hot desk, a professional workstation assessment should be a must for you.

You may be reading this page because you’re already getting aches and pains, or starting to feel uncomfortable at your desk.  Or your line manager or health and safety executive may require you to arrange for an assessment to take place.

Each year in the UK, employees each take an average of 6.9 days off due to sick leave per year.  That equates to millions of lost hours of productivity and millions of lost pounds for many businesses.

Many of these lost work hours can be avoided with a simple workstation assessment, which is aimed at reducing unnecessary injuries caused by sitting incorrectly or using equipment in the wrong manner.

For expert risk assessments and advice, you can rely on the team at DSE Assessments London.  We have been providing a dynamic, cost-effective display screen risk assessment service across London for many years.

What do DSE assessments achieve?

Our specialist assessors will inspect your workstation and assess how you sit at your desk and how you interact with your display screen equipment.

The VDU assessor will look at how you are sitting from an ergonomic perspective.  Any required adjustments to your position or your office equipment will be identified and advice will be given with regards to rectification.

We will look at the suitability of your office chair, your desk, your laptop or computer monitor, and any equipment that you use during your worktime.

In addition, we will look at your working environment and assess any issues caused by lighting or noise.  When all of these factors are combined and correctly assessed, they will help you to minimize any potential risks associated with the long-term use of display screen equipment.

What are common problems with using display screen equipment?

Having your chair too low or too high, or having your screen or laptop positioned incorrectly can cause an array of health issues.  These include back, neck, and shoulder pain, sore and tired eyes, headaches, leg, and arm discomfort, and, potentially, upper limb disorders.

Where and when will the assessment take place?

The assessment will take place at your chosen place of work, whether that’s the premises of your employer or at your home office (or both).  We will always arrange a time that suits you best to minimize the disruption of your workload.

Our team is available all hours and can schedule a visit during the daytime, evenings, or weekends.   We can accommodate whichever suits you.

Will you receive an assessment certificate?

Once our staff member has completed your DSE assessment, we will provide you with a full six-page report.  The report will highlight any issues we find and advise you on the best way forward to help alleviate any issues identified.

A further summary sheet is also provided for HR/Personnel staff, so that they can see, at a glance, what actions, if any, need to be taken.
